Did you know the Howard University Hospital use to be Griffith Stadium? Griffith Stadium built in 1965 was the home to the Washington senators (white league) and the Homestead Grays (negro league) baseball teams, also used for baptisms, lectures, and cadet corps drills. The stadium stood out around this time because is was one of the few public places that were not segregated. That meant every Washingtonian was allowed to enjoy the events. Sadly in September of 1961 the last game was played there and Howard University hospital was built in 1975. 
I like the image you added. Few people know that HU Hospital is a relatively new building. It's a big step up from Freedmen's Hospital. And the new Nationals Stadium makes Griffith and RFK look like bad first attempts!
