On a typical night after dinner students usually gather around on the yard and socialize before a long night of studying, but there is always that one group of people that always hang out on the steps of the fine art building. So now I am curious to know, what is really in the fine arts building? Well during my virtual tour for Howard I learned that one-third of the fine arts complex is a gallery of art. The gallery of art was established in 1928 and lead by directors James Porter and Professor James Herring. The African American art gallery has artifacts that were donated by Alain Locke.

You have to go in and see the pieces in the gallery. There is amazing art in there. It's inspiring to see what our ancestors left as their interpretation of art. Good connection of the real and the now to history (folks hanging out there has new meaning!)
